Skills Village – a community between the Competitors

Delegates from Member Countries will stay at either Skills Village or a hotel when attending EuroSkills Herning 2025.

All hotels are located within a short distance of venue, making it easy and convenient to get to and from the venue.

The Skills Village is located at Lalandia Billund, approximately 40 minutes by transfer bus to the Competition Venue, MCH Messecenter Herning.

The Skills Village is built on the principles of an Olympic City, making the Competitors live next to each other – fostering friendships and knowledge sharing across borders and nationalities.

Watch a short introduction video about Skills Village and find the answers to your questions about accommodation at Skills Village and hotels in the Q&A below.

FAQ for delegates

Accommodation – Skills Village

Will there be flags outside all the houses, indicating which country is living where? Should the members bring them themselves, or can they be bought?

A: All the houses in Skills Village will be marked with nationality upon arrival.

Will Competitors and Experts be split up into different areas, so they can’t meet and talk to each other?

A: There will be no fences between the different areas, it’s not possible/an option.

Is it possible to lock the doors to the bedrooms and bathrooms? Some members will have both genders in the same house.

A: All the doors and keys in the house are identical, so they cannot be used to lock a door when leaving the house. However, at night, if the key is in the door, the door cannot be opened.

How can I keep my Experts in the same Skills Village area without extra costs for underutilized houses?

A: Book the same House Style to keep them close. Booking different styles places them in the same area but on other roads. We aim to group countries closely, but some houses may still be underutilized.

How can I ensure that my Competitor Team stays in the same area so that the Team Leader can easily manage them?

A: To keep Competitors close, book their accommodation in the same House Style. We aim to place Competitors from the same country close to each other.

How do I manage housing for a competitor under 18 who cannot share with adults?

A: You must book a separate house for the under-18 Competitor. If you book the same Housing Style to your other Competitors, we’ll strive to place the houses close together.

Can I see my Experts/Competitors house locations during booking?

A: No, locations are assigned after the booking deadline. You’ll know the exact location upon arrival. However, we will strive to place countries close together based on the booked House Style.

Are there houses for 6 or 8 people?

A: No, the maximum is 4 people per house to minimize bathroom wait times and ensure a comfortable stay in Skills Village.

Do we pay for an unused bed in a 4-person house if only 3 persons are staying there?

A: Yes, you must pay for the unused bed. But the price for the unused bed is included in the price shown for 3 persons living in a 4-person house. If you don’t want to pay for the unused bed, we recommend booking a 3-person house with 3 people living there.

What should we do if we have 5 Competitors but want a 6-person house?

A: The maximum is 4 people per house. We recommend booking a 2-person and a 3-person house.

Can Delegates with different roles share a house?

A: Yes, you can accommodate different types of Delegates in the same house. The first person to arrive will stay alone until the rest of the Delegates arrive.

Can people with different arrival dates share a house?

A: The houses have a code system (you’ll receive the code upon arrival), so there is no need to keep track of keys.

How do we access our house if we are arriving at different times and dates?

A: All the houses in Skills Village will be marked with nationality upon arrival.

Our delegates are too big for a normal single bed and wish to book houses with double beds. Style A-houses don’t have that, unless we can put the two single beds together?

A: The solution could be that they choose Style B-house for 3 people.

What time is check-in and check-out at Skills Village?

A: You can check into the holiday home after 3:00 PM on your arrival day. If you arrive earlier, you can store your luggage at the Center.
Checkout must be completed by 10:00 AM on your departure day.
