EuroSkills Herning 2025 is set to be the largest EuroSkills competition to date, measured by the number of competitors. This has become clear following the closure of the registration deadline, with no fewer than 597 young talents from across Europe confirming their participation in Denmark. This record-breaking number is a source of great pride for the organisers.
Never in the history of EuroSkills has there been such a high number of registered competitors. According to Christian Corlin, COO of EuroSkills 2025, this reflects the success of the Danish secretariat in fostering strong collaboration across the many stakeholders who are making EuroSkills Herning 2025 a reality:
“I am proud that we are creating the largest European championship ever to be held on Danish soil. It shows not only that the Skills movement has great momentum across Europe – but also that there is strong national support here in Denmark. Hosting the biggest EuroSkills event ever would not have been possible without the fantastic commitment from schools, organisations, trade committees, foundations and the Danish business sector. We are immensely grateful for the dedication that makes it all possible – because our most important task is always to create the best possible framework for the participants while also generating value for our partners.”
Collaboration – including international cooperation – has been a priority since day one of the planning process. One of the central questions from the outset has been how Denmark can contribute to strengthening the Skills Family after Herning. Henrik Kjeldsen, CEO of EuroSkills 2025, hopes that EuroSkills Herning 2025 – and the way it is organised – will set the standard for future Skills events:
“We have rethought the way EuroSkills events are usually organised, and I hope this will help ensure that EuroSkills Herning 2025 becomes more than ‘just’ a competition arena. In addition to our focus on sustainability and the green transition, we are placing a strong emphasis on creating communities – especially in the Skills Village, where the skill athletes will live side by side with opportunities to build friendships across professions, nationalities, and genders. This is an initiative we hope will resonate and inspire future Skills events, so that we can help create a stronger Skills community across borders. We want EuroSkills Herning 2025 to contribute positively to how vocational education and skilled trades are understood – and in our planning, we aim to create an event that leaves the strongest possible impact – both politically and among young people – so we can leave a lasting legacy.”
