#SkilledGreenerFuture

Skilled professionals build, create, and transform – and they are some of the most important players in the green transition. Here, you can explore our green initiatives, meet companies and their apprentices, and read about their sustainability projects. Let yourself be inspired by this year’s competitors, who demonstrate how they are Skilled for a Greener Future.

In September, we hope to put the spotlight on practical solutions that work in real life. We will showcase the trades from a climate-conscious perspective and help realise the political goals of the green transition.
Because we believe skilled professionals are ‘Skilled for a Greener Future’ – and so should EuroSkills events be.

Who knows – maybe you’ll discover who to cheer for this September?

The Green Mission – a sustainability journey

At EuroSkills Herning 2025, we proudly introduce The Green Mission – a guided experience highlighting sustainability in vocational education and across different areas. Throughout the exhibition halls, QR codes will be placed at competition areas, providing visitors with insight into how sustainability is integrated into each skill – including the use of recycled materials, a focus on circular economy, and environmentally friendly solutions.

The initiative offers new knowledge and learning opportunities while also showcasing how the green transition is being put into practice – from technical disciplines to skilled crafts. The Green Mission also serves as a structured route through the halls, offering visitors a unique way to experience the competitions through a sustainability lens.

In addition, The Green Mission communicates the overarching sustainability efforts of EuroSkills Herning 2025, including how the event is actively working to reduce its climate footprint.

LOOP aims to make EuroSkills Herning 2025 more sustainable

When EuroSkills Herning 2025 kicks off, it will do so with an increased focus on sustainability. A new initiative, LOOP, aims to reduce material waste and ensure responsible waste management – before, during, and after the event. The project engages vocational students from across the country as volunteer ‘Loopers’ and marks an important step towards a more circular approach to future Skills events.

Recycled wood furniture

For EuroSkills Herning 2025, TrÆls is supplying furniture made from recycled materials – including surplus wood and airbags – to be used in lounge and dining areas. With a strong focus on circular economy and social responsibility, the company designs functional and durable solutions from materials that would otherwise be considered waste.

The furniture is built to be disassembled, repaired, and reused – and it is produced within a collaborative work environment where discarded materials are given new life.

The narrative is sustainable

“Sustainability is a central focus throughout EuroSkills Herning 2025 – from planning and execution to the period after the event. We are working purposefully with greener solutions, circular economy, and material reuse, aiming to demonstrate how large events can be conducted with a smaller climate footprint.

One way we do this is by highlighting how close collaboration across different stakeholders is crucial to turning the vision of a sustainable and responsible event into reality.

Vocational education must be presented in a new way, so that young visitors can experience how skilled workers are concretely engaged with climate action and greener solutions – and leave with new knowledge and inspiration that can support their educational choices.”
