Last week, the WorldSkills Europe Secretariat visited Denmark to provide guidance and advice on how to create a well-organized skill event. The kickoff for EuroSkills Herning 2025 is fast approaching, and as the organizer, we need to finalize more and more specific details – both within and beyond the competition areas.
The visit from the WorldSkills Europe Secretariat served as a status meeting to ensure we are on the right track with our planning – that we cover everything and avoid veering off course. Here are four perspectives from WorldSkills Europe on the planning process for EuroSkills Herning 2025. Laurence Gates, CEO at WorldSkills Europe:
“At WorldSkills Europe, we are pleased to see that the project is on track – in some areas, we are even a bit ahead of time. After a fantastic couple of days here in Copenhagen, we are confident that EuroSkills Herning 2025 will turn out great – however, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. The next step is the Competition Preparation Meeting (CPM) in January, where the main subject is to get more detailed knowledge on the infrastructure list together with Experts and Workshop Managers.”
Eugene Incerti, Director of Competitions and Operations at WorldSkills Europe: “”
“The EuroSkills 2025 team is asking the right questions for the phases of the project we are in. This gives me confidence that they are thinking and prioritizing the right things – e.g. the management of the Competition Infrastructure List and acquisition of the many items. It is a major task and efficiently transferring all the necessary information into the Infrastructure List system is a crucial next step. A major planning milestone is the Competition Preparation Meeting (CPM) event scheduled in January 2025. Here, the Infrastructure List information must be in a good state so that the Chief and Deputy Chief expert can sign it off. This along with the information on Workshop layouts and special builds that may be needed for their skill. The CPM event is always used as the first “window” by those delegates attending, to what they might expect to experience at the EuroSkills competition itself. So, not only should the information be ready but all the associated logistics (transportation, hotels, hospitality, evening events) must work well at the CPM.”
Zsófia Csiszár, Director of Sponsorship and Partnership at WorldSkills Europe:
“It is great to see the interest EuroSkills Herning 2025 creates from the side of the industry, professional, and educational organisations in Denmark. The Organising Team have done an amazing job so far in engaging with several different sectors. The next step is going into deep details to identify how that massive interest can develop further Europe’s biggest vocational education event.”
Tom York, Director of Marketing and Communications at WorldSkills Europe:
“Earlier this month, the EuroSkills Herning 2025 MarCom team invited WorldSkills Europe Members to submit content for a new communications campaign themed around the tagline of the event, “Skilled for a Greener Future”. The campaign will feature articles and interviews with Competitors and Experts from each Member country with the aim of showcasing how skills are essential to help us rise to global challenge of creating a sustainable future for our planet. The team has also produced a new promotional film and a series of new branded social media image templates to support Member countries with their respective promotional content. In the coming weeks and months, the team will be developing the creative concepts for Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as working media services and operations planning for the Competition.”
