Competition Preparation Meeting: The Ultimate Test Before EuroSkills Herning 2025

For three days, 300+ international guests gathered at the Competition Preparation Meeting (CPM) in MCH Messecenter Herning. The event had a twofold purpose: to finalise competition designs and to test all practical aspects surrounding the event – from the accreditation system and venue dressing to transfer plans and the distribution of welcome packages.

The foundation of EuroSkills is the competitions. But before they begin, every detail must be planned in great details; How should the test project be structured to ensure the perfect level of difficulty? Which tools should be used? And what items are still missing? Over the past three days, we have gained insights into all these questions and more. Chief Experts, Deputy Chief Experts, and Workshop Managers have gathered in Herning to finalise the competitions and the so-called ‘Infrastructure List’ – the comprehensive inventory of materials needed for every competition.

12,000 Items for 38 Competitions
The series of meetings at CPM included detailed organisational meetings and workshops for each competition, discussions on venue layout, stand placements, and reviews of health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Kasper Bøgelund, Head of Competitions at EuroSkills 2025, explains:

“We need approximately 12,000 items – everything from mixers and hairspray to screws and excavators. At the Competition Preparation Meeting, we have brought together all those responsible for designing and organising the 38 competitions. Our key task has been to clarify all details regarding the competitions and the equipment required to ensure that participants have the best possible conditions to showcase their skills at the highest level. The Competition Preparation Meeting has truly helped tie up many loose ends, bringing us one step closer to a fully prepared EuroSkills 2025.”

The Ultimate Test Event
A total of 300+ delegates, sponsors, partners, and other stakeholders participated in CPM in Herning. For EuroSkills Herning 2025, it served as a logistical test for our Operations team in organising transfers, accreditations, welcome package distribution, and much more.

Maja Eg Søndergaard, Head of Operations for EuroSkills 2025, shares:

“Organising an event for 300+ participants is no small task. However, it has served as a test for us, allowing us to pressure-test various aspects. We have gained loads of insights that we will now evaluate post-CPM as we look ahead – not just to 300+ participants, but up to 2000 delegates at EuroSkills 2025, not to mention partners, visitors, and school groups.”
